What we help you challenge on your credit
The full list of negative items Freedom Financial disputes — from collections and charge-offs to ChexSystems banking flags. If it's hurting your score or blocking you from opening an account, we've done it before.
Credit report items
Reported by TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax.
Collections
Third-party collector reporting a past-due balance
We attack the debt-buyer's chain of ownership. Most collections agencies can't prove they own the debt on the timeline the law demands.
Charge-offs
Accounts written off as loss by the original creditor
One of the most damaging items on a report. We dispute reporting accuracy, dates, and balances until the creditor can't verify.
Late payments
30, 60, 90, 120+ day lates
Even one late payment can drop your score 60–110 points. We challenge every reported late with goodwill and dispute-based strategies.
Bankruptcies
Chapter 7, 11, 13 filings — yes, we remove these
Public-record items are still disputable through the bureaus. We attack verification-of-record failures — which happen more often than most people realize — until the bureau can't confirm the filing and drops it.
Repossessions
Voluntary or involuntary auto repossessions
The lender has to prove Metro 2 compliance on every field — balance, dates, status codes. One mistake and the whole tradeline comes off.
Foreclosures
Mortgage default and property loss
Multi-year impact accounts. We dispute reporting accuracy and force the servicer to verify — often the loan changed hands so many times they can't.
Judgments
Civil court decisions against you
Most judgments were quietly removed from credit reports in 2017, but if one is still showing we dispute it directly with the court and bureau.
Tax liens
Federal or state tax debt
IRS and state liens have specific removal criteria under the Fresh Start Program. We combine dispute and withdrawal strategies.
Medical debt
Medical collections under $500, plus larger ones
Sub-$500 medical debts must be removed from reports under 2023 CFPB guidance. Larger medical debt is highly disputable.
Student loan defaults
Federal and private student loan negatives
We dispute reporting inconsistencies and help clients into rehabilitation programs that clean the negative reporting.
Hard inquiries
Unauthorized or unrecognized credit pulls
If you didn't authorize the pull — or can't remember it — it can be disputed. Each removed inquiry adds points back.
Duplicate accounts
Same debt reported twice by different furnishers
When a debt is sold, the original and buyer sometimes both report it. That's a Fair Credit Reporting Act violation and comes off fast.
Identity theft accounts
Fraud accounts opened in your name
FTC identity-theft affidavit + police report + 609 letter combo forces the bureau to block the item within 4 days.
Old / outdated info
Anything past the 7-year (or 10-year for BK) reporting limit
Bureaus are required to remove items past the FCRA age limit but often don't. We push them until they comply.
Banking history items
These block you from opening bank accounts — separate from your credit report.
ChexSystems flags
The database banks use to decide if they'll open you an account
Overdrafts, closed-for-cause flags, and old unpaid balances. We remove reports so banks approve you next time.
Early Warning Services (EWS)
The second banking-history database — most people don't know exists
Almost every major bank checks EWS. We dispute directly with EWS and their furnishers to clear the record.
